<p>Ok, so I was talking with my chem teacher the other day and he gave me a WILDLY different view of what college admissions is.</p>
<p>His views are that each college has not tracked all their students for the past 20 years. They have a track record of everyone from your school. When you apply, they take a look at your school's track record and match you up to it and see how you would do. so, each time, your school's reputation is there and is more likely to accept you if your school sends more people to that college. So, now SATs are taking a second seat, while your school history is becoming more important.</p>
<p>Given that...looking at my school.</p>
<p>We have no one in princeton for over 10 years, thus no one gets in every year because Princeton doesn't know how our school's students would fare since they don't want anyone to flunk out.</p>
<p>Meanwhile for MIT and Harvard, we always have at least 3 for each school.</p>
<p>?_? So...what's real thing?</p>
