--Cornell is the kind of place to go if you want to work your ass off and don't mind having nothing to do but drink on the weekends. It attracts many people like this so be prepared to be around a lot of arrogant, boring people. Sure there are some cool people but if you're an engineer and you're not a complete genius then you will not have time to socialize if you do not join a frat. The weather is horrible and make sure you do not make the mistake of coming here if it even crosses your mind that this will bother you because it is much worse than I could ever have imagined. All in all, the only people who really should consider coming here are people who thoroughly enjoy working all the time and find enough enjoyment and fulfillment in work that they won't mind doing nothing on the weekends quite often (and I do mean nothing).

You got that quote of the student's Review site. I recognize this quote right away. That isn't the only quote. College is going to be what you make of it. Anyway, most kids have nothing but negative things about their schools because Americans are never satisfied.

i think this sounds like someone who doesn't want to take advantage of any of the outdoor things to do around ithaca or any of the events the college sponsors. Cornell seems like such a diverse campus, and I thought Ithaca was a really neat town.

The weather is infamously bad, but I've also heard that "on a good day, there isn't a campus in the world that can hold a candle next to Cornell's..." or something to that extent. What will you make of that quote? I agree with King; college is going to be what you make of it. Actually, I have yet to hear a single negative comment from my personal friends who went to Cornell, and this after their being there for almost a year. shrugs I suppose there are plenty of negative quotes out there in cyber space about any institution if you want to find them... but you don't even know about the quoter's personality and attitude towards life. I usually value my friends' opinions more if only because I'll know where they're coming from.

You're right on target. Let's face it, college is about SOME studying. So when the weather is overcast as it can be in Ithaca, people go to the library. But when the sun shines.... let's just say that people know how to have fun.

Obviously the person from the review site was unhappy for reasons unrelated to weather and just used the grey skies as an excuse.

Anyone who is bored at Cornell doesn't have a pulse...

No way, honestly I love the ppl at Cornell and the reason why I chose Cornell is b/c it's not arrogent, the ppl are awesome and I could tell that they know how to party

and the weather...I absolutely love the winter I think it's beautiful, and the spring and summer....you can't go wrong it's so nice up there...just go, seriously

if no one can have fun...which won't happen, you can hit me up on here and we will get wasted, because it's good for you ;)

Nothing to do at Cornell? Gimme a break. Big campus, lots of students, a HUGE number of groups that DO meet regularly. Deciding to stick to the social confines of very techie program is one's own problem. Nothing is limited to you, even if your academic major is sciency.

I can't speak to the weather, but everyone north of the Mason-Dixon line (and quite a few south of it) do nothing but grip about the weather too.

The weather sucks some days, but it is glorious others. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think Ithaca weather is much worse than any city in the northeast.

There are so many groups on campus begging for members that it is hard not to find something you like, and a group of friends to hang out with.

I'm an engineer, and certainly am not a "genious." I do spend a lot of time working, but I found a great group of friends to hang out with. I couldn't be happier. I'm getting a great education, and still have time to have fun.
