I got a call from a professor from Michigan offerring to answer any questions about the school. I am assuming this is not typical, as Michigan has too many acceptances to call everyone but does this mean anything in particular?

This is not unusal. Michigan has volunteers who call admitted students to congratulate and welcome them to Michigan and to answer whatever questions them have about the University and life in Ann Arbor. The University sends the names and contact information of the admitted students to those alumni volunteers on a monthly basis. I am not sure how large a percentage of admitted students are contacted, but I would say it is pretty substantial.
