Is this where the paths seperate?

Well, I am bound to choose some course selections. There are two options: Intro to Computer Programming and Intro to Engineering (ENGRI). I was thinking that I liked CS much, but now having some doubts. I might also like engineering majors, especially nano-technology and related stuff or just electrical engineering.

If I choose Intro to CP, then will I end up being a CS major only? No way back to engineering? How important is this choice?

As far as I know into to cs is a required course for all engineering majors, this is just whether you take it now or next semester and the choice isn’t that important.

I put down the nanotech engri as my first choice, nanoscience as my second, and the laser one as my third.

I’m hoping I can skip out of intro to cs with my ap score which I get in a few weeks and take the second cs course data structures instead.

Again as far as I know you aren’t locked into a major till probably sometime sophomore year, maybe even not till junior year, and even then you aren’t locked per say, you just can’t switch to another engineering discipline and graduate on time easily.

The intro computer science course is mandatory for ALL engineers, and thus you aren’t committing to any major. You’ll take both of those courses next year, its just a matter of order. If you are comfortable with computer science, then go ahead and take it first semester. Let me forewarn you, it isn’t going to be a walk in the park. The first two prelims are easy, but the finals and last prelim are hard.

So you think I should start off with a CS intro?

The stronger programmers tend to take it first semester, so if you’re comfortable with CS, then yes. Otherwise, most people take an intro engineering.

Be careful that some intro to engineering courses are only offered in the fall so that would dictate when to take cs. And I found that most of my friends in my dorm waited until the spring semester to take cs and was glad that I did too because we could work and study together.
