is this worth reporting to the admission dept?

I guess 1500 is overkill. Even so, there is no need to be intimidated. I have read in one of MIT's blogs that last year out of 500 applicants, 300 were incomplete or disqualified on first viewing. So, that 1500(if true) may reasonably come down to 500 or so. Indians, largely, don't know what to do when they are applying to US colleges. Most of the time, they go for name-brands and that's why the applicant/acceptance ratio is soooo large!

isaac, I think we're the only two Indian tennis players on CC :D. And I really don't think there are 1500 Indian applicants to Dartmouth...that number sounds WAY too high

Oh and if you don't mind my asking, what's your ranking?

Yea, even i think 1500 sounds too high, cos any random indian is Gonna apply to HYP and MIT only

@ tetris

i hav just played in 1 national tournament. At the state i was ranked 20 or 25 or so, on an average though............u play at the national level, nice...i actually had to leave it a bit in my senior year u knw.........how are you ranked? coz if u tell me ur ranked 5-10 all over india, there goes my application!! :))

ooh wait, aent you in 11th?? that means you will be in for 2014 classs! whoopeeee! :) lol.

and i dont think theres any way that there were 1500 applicants......selecting 7 out of 1500 applicatns would be an acceptance rate of 0.4 % , even MIT has a international students acceptance of 5%.

and, i agree with adrivit abt indians goin for name-brands. If you tell any indian your goin to so as so college, the first thing he will ask you is what rank is it. Ranks are considered to be the sole concern. Theres no way sooo many indians have even heard about Dartmouth, also, most of the indian students will wanna go to big full fledged universities in big cities, not many will even thik of going to a small liberal arts college in a rural setting! but thats what makes liberal arts soooooo attractive!
