Or should I upgrade?
That’s what I used for Trig/PreCalc, and when we started learning Calc (Limits and Derivatives for the most part) that’s what we used and it worked fine.
In my course selection booklet it says “A TI-89 graphing calculator will be used throughout this course.” (For Calc AB and BC; Honors Calc uses TI-83) so you should be fine either way.
My Calc BC course called for an 84+ or an 89, but I managed on an 83+ – you should be fine.
You’re good. It’s enough. I wouldn’t shell out the money for an 89 just for the class, but it really works wonders if you’re buying it as a first calculator. If you’re going into a math heavy college major that allows 89s such as electrical engineering, you should likely upgrade now.
Will most of the other people in my class also be using 84’s or will I be an odd one out? In pre calc everyone used an 84
Most people still use 84s in high school, including Calc BC. There’s no need to buy a new calculator.
