Is Tisch worth it for 70k a year?

Is the training, industry connections, and overall program at Tisch worth this much for a career where money is constantly an uncertain factor? By all means, if it is, I’d love to have a valid reason to accept.

But obviously it seems insane to do so. Still, I want to be wrong

Wasn’t worth it for us. I can’t imagine it being worth it for any degree in the arts.

“Worth it” really depends on what you’re giving up to attend. Worth going 70K into debt? No way! Worth spending every penny in the college savings account vs having a nest egg to start life with - maybe. And it depends on your other options, too. If you have a more affordable option that you like almost as well, the extra $$$ needed for Tisch might be a total waste. For us, the money was already saved for college, it’s a great fit for our kid and we’re very happy she’ll be attending in the Fall. People make a huge deal about NYU tuition and I sometimes wonder what else they are looking at - most private colleges in high rent areas are about as pricy. It’s not a state school, there’s no taxes going to support it. It is what it is.

But @QrtyUiop, I have to make a personal remark and excuse me if it’s not welcomed. I have seen you post about applying late to various other schools, applying with various majors… you seem confused about what you want out of your next step in college. If you don’t know for sure what you want, I say for goodness sake don’t pay full fare at NYU. Take some time and figure out exactly what’s the plan for the rest of college, taking into account $ as well as location and major. Better to take a gap year than to leap at something you may not even want. It’s simply too much money if you’re unsure on fit or finances.

@CaMom13 I agree with you. I will also be attending NYU this fall, but for the CAS, and if I had to pay $70K, I would definitely have to think twice about attending. I’d honestly even consider passing on NYU. No school is worth a lifetime plagued by debt.
