Is TOEFL necessary in my case?

Dear all!

Here's my situation. I completed my entire education in schools where English is the teaching medium. I have official documents to attest. So theoretically, the TOEFL requirement could be waived for me at most colleges. However, I did take the TOEFL just to be on the safe side and got 106. But here's the issue: sending only one score reports costs $18, and I'm applying to many schools. So, if I do send those scores, will they help my application? Or will my application be the same with or without TOEFL? See, I would not want to waste this big amount of money.

You know, I had the same issue. If you are in America, you should call them and find out whether you should or not. I’m sure they will say you wont need it because I didn’t have to even though I am an international because I am going to finish my high school in US. They will tell you whether you should email your regional director or get a recommendation letter from your English teacher about your English proficiency :)

Each college and university posts the requirements for admission on its website. If you cannot determine whether or not a particular college or university would require the TOEFL, send an email to the international admissions officer and ask. It really is OK to ask them.

Thank you! Do u know about schools who may waive TOEFL if your SAT CR score is above some threshold? Is it all schools or just some of them? My CR score is 770 if that helps.

I recommend you ask the schools you are applying to. My friend who is a US citizen had to take them because English was not the primary language of instruction in my school. I’ve heard some schools wave the requirement if your CR score is above 700 though.
