I read that to stand some sort of chance at these schools you should be no lower than the top 10%. I'm in that "threshold," but on the lower end of it. My school doesn't exactly rank; its profile indicates the GPA by the decile only. But it does keep track of individual ranks (solely for the purpose of UT auto admits; for other schools, they just give out the decile). Out of the 240 students in my class, I am 23, just barely making me top 10%. Will this significantly lower my chances at top schools, especially for an unhooked applicant?

Class rank doesn’t have that much context without the method used in calculating it

Is it by weighted or unweighted GPA?

Did you take your most rigorous course load and did you succeed in those courses?

If you can answer the second question with a yes, and your GC checks it off, you will be fine.

Weighted, and yes. My GC told me she would check it off

You will be fine most likely, focus on other parts of your application now and keep up the good work!

Good luck!
