Does anyone know whether it is possible to transfer after one semester if you know that the college you chose is not a good fit for reasons that you can not change (religious, location, curriculum etc.). There is no way that I will finish school at this college and I hate to wait till my junior year. Background is that I admit I didn’t fully investigate the intricacies of the college and relied on low acceptance rate and merit scholarship. I would be looking at non-Ivy colleges with more urban campus. Thanks for any input!
I think it will be really tough for you to transfer after one semester because you haven’t “proved” yourself at a college level. I think you still have time to drop this school and get a partial refund. This will be a very expensive transition. I don’t know if being in school for a couple of weeks will count against you and whether you can still retain your freshman status if you drop and take a gap year.
Many schools require junior level transfers. As a transfer, you won’t get much in financial aid.
You can go to your local community college, then transfer as a junior.
