Is transferring to an art school worth it?

I just applied as a transfer to FIT, Parsons, and SUNY Purchase College all for graphic/communication design. The reason I am looking to transfer is because I want a more rigorous curriculum.

My portfolio is not as strong as most art schools would expect. I am mostly self-taught thanks to my library and YouTube :) I prefer more of the advertising aspect of design.

However, my GPA is a 3.9.

Will these schools look at my GPA or does my portfolio hold more weight? Should I just continue at my current school (with a nearly full scholarship), graduate with a great GPA, and then possibly attend graduate art school (Yale, Parsons, Pratt, etc.)?

Right now I am a sophomore in college. Here is all of my design work and some photography: Flickr: Corie K's Photostream

I like that iclay.
what is your fav subject or intended major?
for full ride, I sort of want to say stay there and get smarter yet (I am a parent can not pay anything)
for not challenging, you mean you exhausted offering of design/photo classes in your school?
have you draw, paint, make with your hand? if none in your school, look elsewhere and try that for now and see how you like it before commit to art, art, art.

Thanks.
My major is graphic design, but I prefer the advertising side of it.
The money situation is definitely a factor. But FIT is a SUNY school and tuition is under $10k for NY residents, which I am.
By challenging I mean I’m not being “intellectually stimulated.” I find things too easy at my current school. I need more to do.
I am taking a drawing class in the spring. My school has a decent art dept. but I want to learn more.
