Is true that Triples = Doubles room size?

My friend told me that triples and doubles are same size, except that its just a bunk bed added for triples.

i think the triples are a teensy bit bigger.

here’s a link to middle earth floor plans:
[UC Irvine Student Housing - Middle Earth - Map and Floor Plans](http://www.housing.uci.edu/me/map.asp)

you can look at the doubles/triples to see.

for doubles it says
Room size ranges from approximately 10’ x 16’ to 12’ x 15’

and for triples
Room size ranges from approximately 12’ x 15’ to 12’ x 17’

i can’t seem to find the same type of link for mesa though so i can’t tell you anything about that…

(keep in mind that not all rooms have this floor plan and you can rearrange the furniture anyway as long as you put it back before moving out)

thanks jennifer7

I lived in a triple at Mesa Court, here’s how I saw it:

It was indeed the same space of that of a double, 1 bed is a single while the remaining two beds are set up as a bunk. My desk was smaller as well as it being closest to the door, had to be smaller so that the door could open all the way.

Before that, I used to live in a room of my mine own before college, but I was able to adjust quickly since almost everything I did was near or at my desk. Plus, both of my roommates brought in something I could use as well: large screen TV and a mini-refrigerator, conveniently an arms length away from my desk.

It also depends on whether the room is intended to be a triple or magically becomes one because they need more triples. As you can see here:

[UC Irvine Student Housing - Mesa Court - Hall History and Descriptions](http://www.housing.uci.edu/mc/hall_desc.asp)

the Unit IV Village Halls have designed triples that are indeed somewhat larger than the doubles. But when things get tight, there’s a tendency for the Housing folks to look at a double room and say, “this sure looks like a triple to me.”

Yeah it definitely depends whether it was built as a triple or was transformed into one because of growing demands for housing.

Mine was unfortunately transformed into a triple… the room below us with the exact same dimensions only has two people in it while my room is shared with two other people! If you turn out to be the unfortunate soul who gets a triple, it’s unbelievably small when you first walk in, but you get used to it over time and it doesn’t seem so bad.
