is UC Davis for Computer Science and Engineering a mistake?

Never thought I would resort to posting on a forum for help but i'm really stuck...

So.. I really like the UC Davis atmosphere after visiting it several times, but i'm worried about how useful an undergraduate degree in CSE is compared to some of the other schools i'm considering, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (UIUC). The problem is, I guess I can't really picture myself at them, living in the Bay Area my entire life. I'm aware of the US News rankings due to my Asian parents.. but will I really put myself at a disadvantage by going to UC Davis (ie. end up working a crappy grunt job or maybe even unemployed)?

Thanks ahead of time - feel free to mock me choosing UC Davis lol

Heh. You have more control over that than the school does.
Davis is a smart choice, especially if it’s a lot cheaper than UIUC and CMU. Computer scientists and engineers are in demand and the employment picture is very egalatarian…where you get your degree is not as important in this industry.

UC Davis is ** not ** a mistake. It has a great engineering program, especially in EE/telecommunications.
