Is UC Irvine really that weak?

MY story here:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/587440-i-need-help-uci-ucla-ucb-usc.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/587440-i-need-help-uci-ucla-ucb-usc.html</a></p>

So basically if i go to UCI , i will be in their 3-2 accelerated program in which i would also acquire my MBA within 3 years of transferring.

I see that UCI isnt ranked in the top 20 but they are ranked in the top 50 for Undergrad and for their MBA.

Am i really shooting myself in the foot acquiring both my MBA and BA from Irvine?

What if I pursue my PhD? then would it really matter? A good freind of mine told me to go to UCI, no matter if i get into Berkeley, or UCLA, get my MBA faster and cheaper, then go get a second Grad degree from UCB or UCLA in economics b/c it is always about the last college you attend....

what do you guys think? I just dont want to handicap myself in finding jobs, with the economy today, globalization, and the fact that UCI isnt well known even in the states(Lets say like east coast)

thanks!

You’re worrying too much about this.

Why are you in such a rush to get an MBA? Get your undergraduate degree from UCI, work for a couple years, then apply to an MBA program.

I would question hiring someone with an MBA degree and no work experience, more so than the degree is from UCI.

Here’s why where your MBA from is important to employers: It’s where you formed your network. If you are highly ambitious and think you want an elite business job, getting a PhD from a top school isn’t going to make where you got your MBA any less important.

I already have 6 years of work exp. and i am 24 years old. Sorry it was in the orginal thread
