Is UCI good for Civil Engineering + Do I have a good chance of getting in?

Ok so I want to major in Civil Engineering or Computer Science and I’m applying to most UC’s with UCI being my most likely. Is UCI good for Civil Engineering?

Also I wanted to know if I have a good chance of getting accepted. Here are my shits below:

  • New SAT score 1250 (700 math, 550 reading, 21/24 essay) I’m taking this again for a 1400
  • Top 10% of my class
  • President / Founder of UNICEF at my school
  • Vice President of GIS Club
  • 300 + volunteering hours
  • GIS Intern (for my city) learned GIS programming and worked on city projects
  • I recieved an award from my mayor and city recognition (if that counts for anything)
  • CSF member for 3 years
  • ASB Senators (basically a lower division of ASB) 1 year
  • I volunteered at libraries a lot
  • Boy Scouts Volunteer ( I wasnt in Boy Scouts but I was the Troop Leaders assistant. I was in charge of the troop I was assigned to)
  • self proclaimed memer
  • I also am trilingual bc I took a language class for 3 years. It was for a language called Telugu.
  • yo where the fuck is my noose tbh
  • I write pretty godly essays so assume that my personal insights are average to a little above average.
  • I’m the first in my family going to a college in the U.S.
  • Middle class income

@Gumbymom

Your UC GPA is on the low side based on UCI’s Freshman profile (below the 25th percentile) but you are within range for your test scores. You have some good EC’s with leadership so make sure your essays shine. Engineering majors are one of the most competitive and to have a solid chance, you want to be at the averages or above the averages for the best chances. UCI is very GPA focused, so I would put UCI as a High Match-Low Reach school. Definitely worth an application since the UC’s can be very unpredictable. Make sure you have UCR on your list as a Match school and include some Cal states as Match/Safety schools such as SDSU/CSULB/CPP/SJSU

GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students

High School UC GPA: 3.93 - 4.22
ACT Composite Score: 25 - 32
SAT Critical Reading: 530 - 670
SAT Mathematics: 590 - 740

Admit rate for 2015 for UC GPA range of 3.4-3.79 was 16%.

Good luck.

@Gumbymom UPDATE I did my UC GPA wrong. This is the real one:
Unweighted GPA: 3.54
Weighted GPA: 4.13
Weighted and Capped GPA: 3.71
what are my chances now?

UCI only uses the weighted/capped UC GPA so your chances are the same. Like I stated above, apply since your EC’s and essays are subjective and could give you the boost you need but you also need some solid Match and Safety schools on your list.
