is UCLA good for neuroscience

Is UCLA good for neuroscience? what is its rank for neuroscience (i dont want any old rankings)...

johns hopkins and ucsd ftw

then pay for it or look it up on google.

you do realize that the first 2 years of the major are EXACTLY the same for all of the biology majors? OK great UCSD has the Salk institute - how the hell does that affect you unless youre in a graduate program?! As for Hopkins - agreed – for one thing it has a medical school – same with UCSD and LA. Point is - the nuances between programs are virtually nil to you as an undergraduate. all you need to know is that you have research opportunities here, great hospitals and institutes, youre in a major city and will attract funding etc. . . the rest is just some obscure research related stuff that doesnt apply so screw it .

^ wow nicely said. but honestly, what ISN’T ucla “good for”… haha

football..

oooh. burn.

…academically?

Doesn’t have a strong business administration program… because… there is none.

whatever… haha. i meant holistically.

Oh - here’s one -

arguably, their ’ holistic approach ’ sucks

happy?!

dr. block told us today that that controversy was proven wrong and “UCLA officials have said the new process is fairer to all applicants, and they have emphasized that admissions officials continue to abide by the restrictions imposed by Proposition 209.”

it is good. as for comparisons, nobody knows how “good” UCLA in comparison to SD or JHU because they don’t rank undergraduate programs on USNEWS. The neuro program has MANY great professors (scheibel comes to mind) and it is fun if you really enjoy studying neuro.

overrated dot dot dot

UCLA is simply one of the best schools in the world for neuroscience. I was an undergrad here and decided to stay for neuroscience graduate school (I’m now a second-year PhD student). There are endless opportunities for undergrads in neuroscience here. See this thread for more details about neuroscience opportunities at UCLA:
