Is UCLA Honors Program worth it?

Is it worth it to go through the honors program. What advantages will it give you?

bump........

Flopsy, do you have any opinions on this?

I'm pretty sure Flopsy is engineering and as such isn't able to do college honors.

As someone who's in honors, I'd say yeah, it's worth it. Priority registration, cool classes (smallll and good topics), seperate guidance, etc. My experience with honors thus far is that it's really not much more difficult than regular classes, just an extra project or paper or something along those lines. Sometimes more reading, sometimes not.

It's the highest honor you can receive at the school. Does this mean anything to you? If it does, then I'm sure the program would be worth it to you. If you don't really care about honors, then no, I don't see any reason in doing extra work.

Im in Engineering. Are engineers not able to do honors?

It's worth it simply for the fact that you get priority registration for your classes. TRUST ME, you will appreciate this because classes fill up SO QUICKLY and if you have a late registration date, you are basically screwed.

But is this only offered to non-engineering students

Engineering is not a part of the College of Letters and Science and so engineering majors aren't able to participate in College Honors. It's a seperate system.

apparently for honors you get the prestige and priority registration and all that. is there also more competition in earning good grades? since the people you're taking classes with are honors students... in that case, would the GPA be weighted differently than regular students'?

They aren't necessarily all honors students. And no, there's no differentiation in GPA.

someone please be kind and tell me how to figure out the GPA that they use to figure out your honors program elibibility.
