Is UConn Premed good?

UConn is my state university, so I'm obviously considering it for financial reasons. I definitely want to go to med school, so a good premed program is important to me. Is the Uconn program any good? Also considering University of Vermont, BU, JHU, Tufts, UMich, Cornell, MIT. Thoughts?

Do you know what a premed program is? It’s an advisory track for students considering med school after college. They advise you on the med school pre-req classes and guidance on the MCAT and other application practicals. That’s a “premed” program. UConn and every other legitimate college will have one.

If Med School is truly your goal, you should look at which college will leave you with the lowest amount of debt.

a 4.0 gpa and high on the Mcat score will…its up to YOU, not the school.

What do you think a pre-med program is?

Being pre-med means that you choose WHATEVER major you want…Music, English, Bio, PolySci, WHATEVER.

AND…you take these classes (the same classes that STEM majors take):

Bio I and II
Gen Chem I and II
OChem I and II
Physics I and II
Calculus

As you can see, there’s nothing special or unique…same at UConn or other schools.

Are you a junior or senior?

What is your GPA and test scores?

If you’re considering UConn for financial reasons (which is fine), then if you’re a junior then you may have other affordable options.

What is your budget for college?

I’m a junior. I know what premed means. I’m asking about the strength of the science programs and acceptance to medical school.
