just wondering.........

People tend to not like the location.

yeah...Its rural...not many people like that..

Yeah its students aren't bright.

greg, youre awfully bitter!
uconn students have never been stronger.
Average SAT scores for incoming freshmen at Storrs are up 82 points since 1996 and are now at 1195.

greg is pretty darn bitter. Uconn's weaknessess I would say location, but that is being worked on so I dunno.

Since it's such a big school, the administration can be hard to deal with sometimes.

Peoplesoft sucks, the location sucks, and the rare occasion when there is no one to buy for you sucks.

UConn is a SIC school as long as you have people to hang out with and talk to.

UConn + decent social life = incredible.

UConn + no friends = Welcome to prison

My last semester was a ****ing nightmare. But this semester is turning out alright.

rcherry loves to suck up to uconn all the time. She's like the "alexandre" of the uconn thread.

It's all good though cause UConn's not bad at all.

Job placement was a real weakness years ago (the placement office was totally ineffective, except for a board with "Management Training Programs" for the discount store chains). Has that improved?

kotchian123, your right on the dot! :) i like to suck up to uconn because unlike you, i know that i am gonna have a blast!

ADDITIONALLY, if you go to any school and have no friends, its prison. i dont see how uconn is an exception.

do you know what this means?

To Neonzeus, I think they tried to improve on it. I know my friends from the business school that are seniors say they have good job placement into some great jobs. They also now have interships for freshmen in the summer.

I know parking is a nightmare for students who live on campus. THe parking lot is sort of remote and the cars frequently get broken into.

I can tell you for engineering and accounting and actuarial jobs - UConn has a great name on the East Coast. Big time recruiting here.

hey suckup, i already told you I'm happy this semester.

My only beef with UConn is that the business school here - though good - isn't really held in the same regard as UNC / UVA / Michigan / Kelly.

It's like we're just not a target school for i-banks/MC firms.

So far I have not heard of any of the elite wall street firms recruit here.

omniscient might know more about this and I'm interested in learning more

p.s. - cherry I'm just kidding around. don't take stuff seriously. I'm glad u made this thread.

Okay I just contacted the business career office director.

They do in fact have top students every year intern and ultimately work for investment banks in the business school. So it is very possible. Though not a target school, the career placement office does have ways of helping any individual land an internship which is crucial.

all i know is that i am pysche to start college this fall :)
