Is ucsd socially deprived??

I know that it depends on what "socially deprived" means to each person, but this is a thread for CURRENT UCSD students. CURRENT students, can you please let us prospective students know about how you view the atmosphere? (Ex. what events make it a social campus, what makes it not so social...) Thank you in advance!

I really recommend new freshmen to join a club or two during their first year. Being in a club really let you meet new people, not just your suitemates. And trust me, you are not gonna be best friend with all of your 8+ suitemates anyway so befriending with people from other areas is really beneficial. But choose a right club though, like if you are really studious, hardworking, or searching for internships etc. you might wanna join academic oriented club but it’s always fun to join just-hang-out club too. Being in a club also grants you more connection. I personally feel like the upperclassmen in those clubs are very friendly and they try to be nice and help the freshmen. You can also ask them various questions about school since they are more experienced. Don’t limit yourself to only friends in your college or residence hall building because if you do so, then yes UCSD is socially dead. It’s very quiet here on weekends and some people in your suite will be commuting, so you will find your suite kinda quiet. Actually, there are tons of events here but I feel like most people never really pay attention to those or perhaps those events aren’t advertised as much as they should be idk.
Don’t compare UCSD to UCLA because La Jolla is a very quiet city and if you want to have fun or eat good food, the nearest is probably in San Diego.
