Is UF still at option for me?

Okay so recently (and pretty much all summer) I've been stressing/worrying about my chance of attending UF. In 9th grade I took earth space science honors instead of biology honors and I feel as if that will ruin my chances of UF. I don't know if this is a stupid situation to be upset about but it really is killing me. To try to make up for it I'm taking 5 honors classes an AP and one regular which is French II and I got straight A's in these classes 1st quarter and I plan on doing so 2nd quarter. I know this information is very vague, but just let me know what you think. Any advice??

How could taking earth space science honors and not biology honors, in the 9th grade hurt you? Don’t worry about it. Continue to take honor/AP classes (with one or two regular classes like French II) and you’ll be fine.

This isn’t HYP, get A’s and a few B’s, take a rigorous course load, do well on your SAT/ACT and you’ll be fine.

Thank you I know it’s kind of ridiculous to worry about things like this it’s just that my group of friends are very competitive and I put a lot of pressure on myself to perform well. Thank you for your reassurance :)

Quit stressing!!!

That’s not going to hurt your chances at all. I’m at UF now and everyone came from different high schools and took different classes. Every school offers different classes, and there are plenty of people who got into UF who have taken all sorts of different classes. It’s not like you just didn’t take Biology and took an extra art class instead. Earth Science is still an academic course, so it doesn’t matter.

Keep up your great grades and you will be fine! Great job

What are your test grades, gpa, ec etc etc?

Dont worry about the 9th grade.

Sorry for not replying for a while I was busy with school. But I have not really taken any tests just the PSAT but my scores were low since I was sick on test day and could not really focus. But my high school gpa is a 3.65 unweighted and 4.54 weighted which is far better than my ninth grade gpa which was 3.5/4.3. I’m currently an officer at my schools key club and I will be involved in a foreign lang competition coming up. Next year I should be involved in more clubs but I was just focused on getting straight A’s this year so I had to limit myself to ec’s. I also plan on dual enrolling next year. I also volunteer at a nursing home regularly.

Great! Keep up the good work :)

You really should be preparing for the standardized tests as well. A high gpa doesn’t make up for a low SAT and your low PSAT could signal a problem since students with very high grades with a low SAT/ACT signals grade inflation at the high school.
