I read on another site that the school empties out on weekends... Is this true? Is there enough to do on campus and in town on weekends? Also, how well do out of state kids do, socially at Kentucky?

Anyone have an answer for this? My daughter was accepted here and we have the same questions. Thanks!

Karen

No real answer here, but it’s a great town imo so they should be able to find stuff to do…

Lexington is the second largest city in the state, so it’s not as if people are leaving to go other places where there is more action. SEC athletics, with free admission, so always something going on campus.

Absolutely not, there is always something going on on the weekends. My parents had to pry me away from Lexington on the weekends. I loved going to games, or taking a trip to the Gorge. HOWEVER, if you don’t drink or like to party (like me) then there will be nothing to do, but if you do the Greek scene definitely can provide that for you. Out of state students do fine there, there is no distinction or way to tell who is out of state or not.

I’ve had the same experience here. UK is no ghost town on the weekends, but unlike kentuckygirl121 I have found plenty of things to do without drinking. It’s all about meeting people and joining the right organizations. My friends and I sat around and deep fried oreos in a wok one weekend! Without good friends, you are probably going to be bored, but isn’t that true of any school?
