I’m currently a high school graduate and am working on opening up a web design business over the summer. Unfortunately, I didn’t get into Umich, however it would be nice to surround myself with brilliant people who share the same interests as me. It would be much more inspiring than sitting at a desk all day typing letters into a screen lol. Are common areas like libraries and media centers open to anyone or are they restricted for students only?
I believe the library’s are. You might want to call first.
You can definitely study in whatever library you want. Honestly, you could probably study in whatever university building you want. Never once have I been asked to show a student ID or asked if I was a student when studying.
However, I know the UGLI advertises that they only permit UM students and faculty between midnight and 8am, but again, I’ve never been asked for an ID when entering between these hours.
Ah okay that’s good to hear!
They have staff/security walking around checking IDs at the UGLi after midnight and before 8 AM - not sure about other libraries. You will need to scan/swipe your ID to enter the building during these hours, and if you are already in the building, there is a fair chance you will be asked for ID. During the day, you can use this library without any issues.
