Should I go to Umichigan and pay full tuition (roughly 41K) or go to Umaryland and pay in-state tuition (21K) ? Biology major --->premed

Unless you absolutely love Michigan and can afford the extra tuition, I would say definitely not.

Ditto. Especially if you want to go to med school… don’t forget that you have to pay for THAT one as well. Not my own advice but it’s common sense as well.

UMD’s a good school
I wouldn’t pass it up for half the tuition.

If your parents can afford Michigan without breaking a sweat, then I would go for Michigan. If your folks need to make a big effort to pay the difference and if you need to take out a loan, I would say go to Maryland. No university is worth getting into debt (much less sell the farm) for.

I have the same situation:

Michigan costs 44,000 and they gave me 29,000 aid in grants… which leaves 15,000 to pay
but Maryland gave me a full-ride…
Like me I would say go to UMD, its a good school, close to DC, and cheap.

Shayman, you are not in the same situation as whsgraduate. To whs, Michigan will cost $45,000/year. To you, it will cost just a third of that. Michigan at $15,000/year is a bargain. If your family can afford paying half of that and you can work a little (particularly in the summer) to make up the rest, Michigan should be easily affordable and you can graduate debt free.

Well i have an EFC of 0 and my single dad makes 20,000 a year with my sister to take care of. and we have no savings. Im going in with absolutely nothing and Michigan could only cover 2/3 of their cost.

So i think its beneficial for me to go to Maryland, which is free and in-state.

Yes, in your case Shayman, Maryland is an aweseome deal.
