I'm looking to transfer from Georgia State University for fall 2014 to major in mechanical engineering. I was trying to look at reviews but i couldn't find anything current. Any detailed suggestions and thoughts are appreciated. :)

As long as their engineering program is ABET accredited, it should be fine. Look into where their graduates get jobs, however. That will give you a better idea about whether it is the place for you.

it’s not worth the effort to transfer to Dearborn

You’ll want to transfer to the Ann Arbor campus.

Why are you thinking of transferring to a satellite campus instead of the main campus?

I would’ve applied to Ann Arbor but I didn’t meet the gpa requirements.

UM-Dearborn is a fine regional university. That said, it’s not usually a school that many people transfer to if their not from the immediate region, so transferring to UM-Dearborn from out of the state doesn’t happen often at all. What’s your motivation to transfer in the first place? Why are you looking at schools in Michigan over another Georgian university?

Perhaps we can be of more assistance if you explain your thought process a bit more.

why not GeorgiaTech instead?

I agree with KronOmega. What are you looking for in a school?

I wouldn’t bother with Dearborn; purely a regional school, as noted above.

Edit: whoops, misread at Georgia tech.

From Georgia state, I would say it would definately make sense if you are instate at Michigan or not instate in Georgia. If you’re really sure you want to work in the auto industry and the cost difference is not much thy makes sense too.

Dearborn <<<<<<<<<<< Ann Arbor
