Is University of Minnesota a possibility for me?

Hello,

I'm looking to transfer to the University of Minnesota.

My GPA is only a 3.1 and I don't have many extracurricular activities I can put down in my essay. What I can put down is that I have a passion for learning, and that I am a completely different person from who I was in highschool (I literally bombed with a 1.90 GPA).

Is an emotional appeal enough, coupled with my current GPA score? I'm worried that they won't take my statement seriously that I care about learning with anything below a 3.5 (I can put down that it will be my goal to -at least- graduate with a 3.5 when/if admitted to their school).

I'm thinking of retaking some of my classes just so I can bump my GPA up. Luckily, because I'm a transfer student, they don't require me to submit ACT's or my highschool GPA.

im pretty sure a 3.1 is more than enough

I’ve heard differing opinions on it. I’m applying to their management school as an undergrad with a major in marketing. I believe that that is their second hardest school to get into, with their biology school at the top.

People have said I should get in, while another said that I’m right on the fence with my GPA.
