Is USNA right for me?

Hello all,

So I’m currently deciding between a few ivy league schools and USNA to play lacrosse. There’s a big part of me that thinks the academy is a place in which I could thrive and I’m very interested in service, but I’m just not sure if I’d rather USNA over the ivies.

Does anyone have any advice as to how I can make this decision? Or how I can evaluate if USNA is right for me?

Does the fact that I’m not 100% sure about USNA mean I shouldn’t go there?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don’t think questioning where you might fit best doesn’t mean anything negative. Sometimes it’s the gung ho Joes who go in with blinders on and are completely blown away once reality hits. Things you can do to see if you think USNA would be a good fit would be to see if you can do a Candidate visit weekend. If you are Ivy potential, I would imagine that USNA is courting you as well. Also talk to your B&G officer. Go visit all the colleges you are interested in and I think you get a feel for things much better. The more research you can do the better. In the end, weigh all of your acceptances, scholarhips, aid etc along with what you wish to study and things usually become a bit more clear. Good luck with this decision.
