I know for a fact that college board sent my SATs on December 4th (late) but my status check updated today and says that:

"Application and required documents were received on time."
and
"We've received all the items that are required to review and process your application. The Admissions Committee is currently reviewing your application for admission. Once the Committee reaches a decision, you'll be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page."

Does this mean that the review committee will be reviewing my application normally and not as a late application? I had everything in with the exception of my SAT, and I took the December SAT and was planning to send it assuming that I would have to because my other SATs obviously did not reach UT on time.

It won’t be considered late, they take the December SAT/ACT scores if the rest is on time.

Official test scores from December of your senior year must arrive in the Office of Admissions by December 31. All other items needed for a complete application must be on time.

I have read the SAT guidelines and know them well, however what I’m asking is that since UT seems to have accepted my SAT scores even though they were late, are they in fact accepting things that were turned in a few days late? I ask this because even though I planned ahead and took the December SAT so I could have a complete and on-time application, UT has updated my status check with a message that everything was received on time, even though they received my SATs on the 6th.

December SAT scores aren’t “late” since they accept them until the 31st, knowing that the deadline for the app and everything else is placed before the SAT date. Dec 1st was the deadline for requirements excluding December SAT scores.

Any other item (application, earlier test scores, transcript, etc) received after the deadline is considered late.

Did you put that you were taking the December SAT on your application? I’m not completely familiar with the process, but perhaps anyone who stated they would be taking the December SAT got sort of an “extension” on their status check concerning test scores.

In essence, you didn’t turn in anything late.

perhaps I am not making myself clear enough.

I took the December SAT as backup for if the SATs I filed to send on November 23rd did not arrive on time.

The SATs I sent on November 23rd ( SATs from january of 2009 and 2010) only showed as sent to UT Austin on December 4th, therefore making them late.
3.I decided that my only course of action would be to send the December SAT (which I fully realize is accepted until December 31st)

I looked at Status Check today and to my surprise, the SATs that I had sent on November 23rd showed as part of an on-time complete application (see OP for the exact messages) even though they had arrived at the UT Austin office yesterday.

My application currently shows itself as on time and currently being reviewed, leading me to think that UT Austin is running so far behind that it is taking late stuff.

Hopefully this is clear enough, sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

UT’s December 1 “receipt rule” is such a strict deadline, I think it is very dangerous to try to make guesses about what post-Dec. 1 items they will and won’t accept.

With that said, in your case, it certainly sounds like you are okay based on the messages you received in Status Check. Is there an explanation in the Status Check FAQ or other information guide that tells you what you would see if your application is considered late? In other words, you received the message, “Application and required documents were received on time.” Is there software documentation that states the other messages that might be displayed, and specifically, what message will be displayed if your application is treated as late or out of time? I’ll bet you will find there is a very unpleasant message that will display if your application is NOT going to be reviewed because it is being treated as late.

firstly, congratulations bigblueduck! (:
I caled UT today and they said that if it shows up on time, not to question it (albeit in a very smarting manner), and I have further investigated my page and everything seems to check out in that it is being treated as an on-time application.

However, TXArtemis raises a great question, if anyone knows what the message is for if your application is NOT on time and is NOT being reviewed, could you please post it here so I know what to look for?
