Is UT for ME?

I am a African American male in highschool, and I am not very social unless I know you. I want to study finance, and UT has one of the best programs in the country. I like watching sports, and the question I get asked most is do you model? I like clothes and can sometimes be considered a "little" metrosexual(Ryan Seacrest). Are there clubs that will appeal to me? How do you make friends w/ 37000 undergrad students. The chances are slim in actually seeing that person again. Are the girls really as hott as PLAYBOY says they are?:P What is the average GPA/SAT/ACT scores?

THANKS DUDES AND DUDETTES!

With 37,000+ undergrads, I can almost guarantee that you'll find some group to fit into. UT has a ridiculous amount of clubs, so the chances that you won't find something that interests you are slim to none. Meeting people has nothing to do with the size of the student body, more so your ability to just go talk to people. That's what dorms, rec sports, and clubs are for.

GPA/SAT/ACT stuff can be found VERY easily on the UT website, College Board, SparkNotes College, or any one of those massive college guidebooks. UT definitely isn't Ivy-quality (which, judging by your username, you think you deserve), but it's a great state university.

And lastly, don't pick a school based on the attractiveness of the student body. It's just plain immature.

Aren't you "ivy league bound"...?

EVERYONE will fit in with some group of people at UT--it's just a matter of you finding that group.

Sports are big at UT, and McCombs business school is amazing.

Yes the girls really are as hot as Playboy says--as in the rest of the state.

The average SAT for an instate applicant is around a 1230, and for OOS 1310.

After being here a year and a half, I can honestly say that I don't know how anyone could "not fit in" at UT unless, as I've said before, they just don't want to. You don't make friends with the entire student population - you make friends in your dorm, clubs you join, your classes, FIGs (First-year Interest Groups), etc.

I don't know if when you said "clubs" you meant student organizations or bars, but in either case, YES - there's something that will appeal to you. There's over 1000 registered student organizations on campus and 6th street alone has close to 100 bars and dance clubs. So you can find whatever tickles your fancy in Austin.

When did playboy say that UT Austin girls were hot? If they are flipin' yes, four years are going to be great. ^_^

Playboy said it in an article ranking the hotness of girls from various colleges. UT was number one.

Also, I found this post to be rather funny. The question I get from most is "do I model?" Are you serious? What does that have to do with making friends? Unless your intrests are only in the way you look, you should look to your other interests to find friends. Do you only want friends who also consider themselves to be "metrosexual?" Because I'm guessing that you will have one shallow group of friends.

i think he was just trying to get the point across that hes not the athletic type, but more of the pretty boy type, without saying so. with sucha big campus and a variety of ppl im sure youll find others like you. its also good to branch out and befriend those you wouldnt usually. =)

He's wasting our time, he'll go to an ivy league school.

Just a yankee trying to belittle students at Texas.

I'm a "yankee" as well, but I'm ecstatic about going to Texas.
