im confused b/c it doesnt clearly say it...i know if your in the top 8% you'll hear in 2weeks but what about non top 8%?

if it is rolling what is the absolute latest time to submit apps and still have a good shot at getting in?

It’s not a true rolling school. Outside the top 8%, UT has historically admitted some strong candidates on a rolling basis, e.g., last fall, a friend from a non-ranking Texas HS (thus in the non-top 8% pool) with high stats was admitted within a week of submitting an app in early Oct. Don’t know if UT will follow that practice this admission cycle. The usual decision period is late Feb or Mar.

The Dec. 1 deadline is absolute.

Note, if you wait until Dec. 1, you may shoot yourself in the foot on 1st choice of college–some fill faster than others. It is ideal to apply as soon as you can put together your best application.

UT isn’t “technically” rolling admissions, but (at least last year without the new laws) it did accept only the top 10%ers that applied relatively early. I know of some people who were in the top 10% and applied late in the application process and got rejected because of this. Take note: apply EARLY

If they were top 10% of a Texas high school, they could not have been rejected from the University if all of their information was in before the deadline. If they got rejected, it was probably because the application or test score was not in before the deadline.

Also note, a few specialty programs are “rolling,” like Plan II. Read everything on the website as it applies to you!

gonna bring this thread back to ask…

UT is still considered rolling admissions if I want to apply to another school single-choice early action right? that would be allowed?

I was auto-admit and heard sometime in October (not long after I applied). The rest of my friends, who weren’t auto-admit, heard in February.

To clarify, only auto admits will receive an acceptance notification on the MyStatus page within a couple weeks after they submit their application (and their transcript is received).

For everyone else, there is the holistic application review, and most people heard back in mid-late February. Some honors programs, however, did release their decisions earlier. I know Dean’s Scholars, Plan 2, BHP, Engineering honors, and Health Science honors released some of their acceptances in December.

Good luck and Hook 'Em!
