Is UT Rolling or Not? Does UT require teacher/counselour/high school transcript's?

Questions are listed in the title...I'm confused if UT is rolling becuase people are hearing back already but it's listed as regular decision. I'm OOS btw and we don't have class rank so :/. I'm applying to McCombs and any honors programs I can do (so BHP for sure and more probably)

If it is rolling admissions, what do you think of my chances (now that it's kinda late):

UT is not "rolling" but if you are in the top 10% and a Texas resident, you are an auto admit and hear quickly that you have been accepted. The way the business school works is they fill 75% of the class by instate class rank, starting at 1% until 75% is filled, usually around 3-4%, then they fill the remaining 25% using a more holistic method, which would include instate lower ranked people with high test scores & w/ good apps and all oos applicants. If someone is instate and a McCombs applicant (or Engineering, another competitive major) but their class rank is higher than around 4% or so, they will be accepted into UT, but not know which major yet. OOS and lower ranked instate people usually don't hear until the spring because UT doesn't know how many applicants they are having to offer admission to under the 10% rule.

Does this make sense? It only seems like it is rolling, in that people are hearing, because those people are auto admits.

Actually, I believe that UT is rolling. Having an auto-admit policy has nothing to do with rolling, which describes how the university takes applications as they come and doesn't have one set of deadlines and decision dates.

The only problem with that is if you are not top 10%, you will not hear until spring. It is only "rolling" if you are top 10%.

So, it is unlike other state universities that are strictly "rolling admission" type schools.

Many people who apply early (sept or oct) will not hear until March or April if they are in or which college they are in. This happened to my older s in 2005. I became well versed with their policies that year!

What I'm trying to say is that yes, they consider applicants as they come in, but unlike other state schools that are strictly "rolling" where you will definitely hear something within a certain time frame, UT has constraints that keep them from making a decision on many applications. My older s applied in the fall and didn't hear a definitive decision until late spring. All it said on his status page was "we are reviewing your application" He wasn't top 10%, but he had an otherwise strong application. By the time he finally heard something, he had already decided to attend somewhere else.
