Is ut within reach?

<p>I am a white male junior from Texas and I am very interested in UT but I'm afraid it is a little out of my league...</p>

<p>GPA- 3.83 WEIGHTED(low rigor; only one or 2 APs per year) currently ranked 149 out of 613(barely top quarter, ouch)</p>

<p>SAT- 2190</p>

<p>EC's- pretty weak: 4 year basketball(2 year letter), 4 year cross country(1 year letter) at a 5A school with 2600+ students, National Merit Qualifier(waiting to see if it is commended scholar or semifinalist, probably just commended) NHS, maybe 60+ hrs community service, worked on and off for 2 years at baskin robbins and refereed youth basketball, aau basketball every summer .... sadly i think thats it</p>

<p>I will not be applying to a specific major because I heard that makes it more selective, correct me if I'm wrong</p>

<p>Will it help my case any that almost all the B’s I have ever gotten were in Spanish? I hated spanish and was terrible at it so I made 6 B’s throughout high school in it… Other than that I have only had two 3.0 credits in my life</p>

<p>Are you top 10%? Because I think Texas admits everyone at their school who is. If not, I would say that it might be hard since they’d want to get a little bit of diversity from out-of-staters to fill up the remaining slots. I’m sure you have a great shot of other schools of equal rigor that are out of state though! Are you applying to any?</p>

<p>i hate to keep bumping but i honestly need help, with the number of schools out there it is hard for me to know what are good schools that I could actually get in to. I’m interested in geosciences</p>
