<p>Expanding on Illini's idea, there could be 31 people in the traditional 1-31 slots. Then there could be 608 people tied for the #32 slot. Thus, Vinny is #33 out of 640, but actually last in his class(not trying to make fun, just showing how the logic doesn't figure).</p>

<p>nothin really....he just called me an "idiot that doesn't know how to read rankings" when i told him UVa was #2 public, after he said that Virginia doesn't have any top tier schools...now if somebody calls me an idiot because they hold an incorrect view, and i can't correct them by telling them myself...i think it's reasonable to get others to confirm my view</p>

<p>You should point out to him that even if UVa were the #3 school and not #2, that would still put it in the top tier by far.</p>

<p>It's a simple rule that however many schools that are tied are the no. of spots that are 'missed' until the next school that is ranked after. You will or have seen a lot of this.</p>
