Is UVa a reach for me? (OOS)

@UVAorBust: At least once or twice a week my S and D (senior & junior) do not even get home before 10 PM due to sports competitions. Depending on where the meet is, it could be later than that. On the other days, practice keeps them from arriving home prior to 7. They then need to eat and do homework for their multiple AP classes and college classes (taken at a nearby university). Anyway, it is not uncommon around our neck of the woods for kids to only get 6 hours of sleep. Even our 8th grader is regularly up until at least 11, and she is the most efficient, on-task person I know. In our household, it is not a matter of efficiency but rather an issue of overload. The kids are told what they need to do to be highly competitive(by GRTs and school counselors), and they are driven to achieve their goals. I imagine it was similar in jc40’s household. My kids would love to be in bed by 9, but they haven’t had a bedtime like that since elementary school. Count yourself among the fortunate!

I am oldUVAgrad! I honestly would not be able to function without sleep. The best nights of the week for me, are the ones where I finish my HW before 8, and am in bed by 8:30.

I think it’s safe to say I haven’t been in bed at 8:30 since elementary school TBH. I fall asleep on average around 1230 most nights and wake up on average around 7 to do some more studying before school starts at 9. I use weekends to recover and vacations to sleep.

UVAOrBust, you should work on that before you go to college, ;)

This Thursday I got 3 and a half hours of sleep…
