Is UVA on the rise academically?

Northwesty your trends are probably correct. It will get more difficult for IS kids to get in, the percentage of IS students will fall, and it will be easier for OOS kids to get in. Most top schools price is based on what the market will pay, not value. Most top schools could care less about OOS yield as long as they get 1,000 kids willing to pay OOS rates. Their attitude is “if you can’t beg, borrow or steal 50K/yr step out of line and let the next kid step up”. I also expect “needs blind” schools vision will improve in the future. UVA is no different from other top schools with these issues
