Is UVA on the rise academically?

Bud – the percentage of IS and OOS enrolled students is going to stay the same as per Richmond. So UVA should be getting increasing admission stats for the IS pool (lower acceptance, higher yield, better qualifications) and slightly less favorable than current for the OOS pool. But UVA still should have plenty of strong OOS kids who will pay the higher price. So overall a net plus for UVA on admissions selectivity, which helps the rankings. Getting even better qualified IS students might also improve the retention and graduation rates a bit, which would also help the rankings.

Those trends don’t help on the financial measures, which is what has been dragging UVA’s ranking down. Only things that seem to be in play there (as of now) are to increase enrollment size and to increase the number of higher pay intl students in OOS admissions. Those would seem to have a modest impact.
