Law is 60% OOS, Darden is 70%. IS tuition at both is 90% of OOS, and they take no state money. That degree of privatization is not going to happen for the rest of the school.

The best thing for UVA, imo, would be for it to get a little bit more state money and/or a little bit more operating flexibility on the IS/OOS stuff. Michigan, where Sullivan came from, has a better deal on both of those, for example, as compared to UVA.

While I don’t see much happening on those due to the politics, it is interesting to see Sullivan’s first statement after reinstatement telling the faculty that, basically, UVA would be better off without the Commonwealth.

Since she’s now untouchable (and also probably a lame duck), it will be interesting to see if she can use her bully pulpit to make anything happen in the next few years.
