I need your help, guys... I need honesty. I've wanted to go to Vanderilt for a while now, but I need to know how much of a chance I really have. From others who know about this stuff, please help.

Applying for ED
I'm good at essays, so counting on essay to be good.
Student of Month twice, Nomination for Volunteer Girls State (Still waiting on word as to whether I will attend or not) Soph& Junior academic award, etc.

Any thing else anyone needs to know, just ask. I would really appreciate some honest, yet constructive, feedback. Thanks!!

Why is your GPA falling so much over junior year? With a 3.97 UW you should have no problem, but with it diving junior year you may be in trouble.

My friend got waitlisted with a 4.0+, 1400+, lots of ECs and 6 varsity letters. Not sure what happened, maybe essays, letters, or saying that he needed financial aid? Anyway, other kids got in with lower scores so who knows- he also didn't apply ED.

Get your ACT's up. Overall it looks pretty good, just make sure to show interest. That's what I did with WFU last year, b/c it was a slight reach: I wrote awesome essays (I worked really hard on them), interviewed, visited, etc. Start working on your essays now and give it to your parents, teacher, and perhaps someone on CC will look at it. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate all of the advice. I've heard to show interest from several people today, so I'll be sure to do that. I am fixing to start on my essays and edit them to death. I think the Eng department, as well as everyone else, will have definatly slaughtered them by time Nov. comes. :D

Hmm, I'm not really sure what Vandy looks for. My friend got waitlisted with a 3.98, 2160, but my other friend got in with a 3.7, 2100. Whatever, I think you'll get in--especially with ED.

Pretty Big Reach. But you can get in if you improve your test scores. Your GPA is great and ECs are decent. But you need to improve your scores, a 27 is below average at Vandy. I think the average score is around 1400 now, not sure what the average ACT is. ED will help and make sure you spend time on your essays and get good recs, it may make the difference.
