I am looking at both Kentucky and VCU. Kentucky is kinda far away (I live in Maryland) and VCU is closer which I like. I want a larger school, pretty big on sports. My brother goes to Salisbury and it just seems kind of blah to me, not much to do and surrounding area pretty boring. Any information on VCU would be helpful, I am looking to major as nurse and I heard they have good medical programs. I took the SATs once and got 1440 and am taking them again in March.

yeah vcu is a good school. personally id say go somewhere and then transfer to a better school for nursing since it is such a competitive field nowadays. but look into vcus program and if they have what u want and u liked it why not.

Take a close look at nursing schools that are direct entry from high school, vs. those colleges that make you competitively apply during your freshman or sophomore year to be considered for the nursing major. Most students prefer direct entry programs, because their is less risk of getting refused into nursing.

There are more direct entry programs in the northeast than in the southeast.

It generally is harder to be admitted into a nursing major than into the general population of a university.

Direct entry programs also typically give you more hours of practical nursing education.

There is much more discussion about various nursing programs over at the nursing part of CC.

VCU has two campuses - the main one west of downtown and the medical center is east of downtown. Richmond is a very interesting city, but like any city, it has some crime problems.
