Is WASH U to far of a reach for me even to apply???

Fairly competative public school
Send about 25% of students to top 100 schools
GPA: 4.5
Class Rank 15 out of 400 top 5%
SAT I 1900 can probably bring up to around a 2000
ACT 29
Most vigorous course load
Scored 4 or higher on the four AP's I took Junior Year
My transcript has a lot of really low A's that inflate my GPA. Our school has a a weird scale where 90-100 is an A, 80-89 is a B 70-79 is a C and 70 below is failing. My school GPA is based on A's are 5's in Pre-AP or AP classes and 4's in regular classes and so on. I havent calculated my UW GPA but I think it will be low because a lot of my 5's for A's in AP classes have been low A's like 90-93's. I think this could really hurt me when the grades are unweighted.

Expecting extremely good rec's and essays

I am extremely interested in Wash U and i think it will show in my essays which won't be over done, they'll be sincere and honest. I know that I will be one of the weaker candidates with my poor standardized test scores but I am still extremely interested. It seems like they send me something every week in the mail and I know that in reality it means nothing but I can't help but be persuaded that they are somewhat interested in me but I can't figure out why. Please tell me if I am just waisting my time because I really love Wash U but I completely understand if its not even worth applying. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd say just get those SAT's up

where are your SAT II's???

Your transcript looks solid and so do your ECs. As it stands, you are not too out of reach. You should be fairly confident. Although to boost your own confidence, I would retake either the SAT or ACT. Shoot for 2150+ on SAT, and 31+ on ACT. If standardized testing is a problem area for you, not to worry, there are other things you can do to increase your chances.

Focus more time on writing superior essays, take a campus tour, and schedule an interview.

Goodluck!

My friend had about the same stats as you except about 2100 on SATs and was waitlisted.
