Is what you study more important than where you study? (Link to Higher Ed article)

<p>Might we spend too much time worrying about where our offspring go to college?</p>

<p>This article suggests that 54% of business leaders don't think it's important:</p>

<p>College major obviously does matter more than which school (assuming decent school for the major) if one is aiming for jobs and careers where specific skills and knowledge associated with a college major are expected.</p>

<p>But the reverse may be more true for jobs where specific skills and knowledge are not so important (or where they are associated with a very common major), but there is an elitist attitude surrounding the job, and school prestige is used as a differentiator to find the “elite” among the applicants and aspirants to the job.</p>
