What is the social life like?

Without frats, is the beer/Animal house culture that makes college fun (in my opinion) lacking?

Williams generally is reputed to have a lot of drunken partying - can’t speak from experience though, as I was waitlisted (■■■).

Don’t you worry, there is no lack drunken dance parties on the weekends. Word harder during the week, play harder on the weekends is the unofficial student mantra.

To non-partygoers: don’t you worry either. I can’t really explain how much of a dichotomy your weekends can be without explaining my own habits… last weekend I went to house-parties and Goodrich for dancing/drinking/general debauchery. This weekend I went to two performances and hung out at Snack Bar and Paresky just talking with friends, sober the whole time. You can choose to do so many things.

kkari, thanks for writing this. That sounds so normal! I’ve been a little concerned because my D is a non-drinker and non-partier (would much prefer your second weekend) and a couple of posters have claimed that all there is in Williams is a) drunken idiotic debauchery and b) old lady knitting, off in a corner. Glad to see more evidence that this is just not true. By the way, during the admitted students function, my D said people were really upfront to her about the frat style drinking; it didn’t bother her; in fact, their openness and honesty was one of the things that really appealed to her.
