The letter was kind of vague, and I need to know as soon as possible because my family is coming also. Thanks!

Sometimes they do, it really depends.

... I think.

If that post acually helped, you're welcome, but in the much more probable event that that was amazingly vague and unhelpful, my bad.

If they haven't actually sent you a plane ticket, then probably not. They never offered to buy one for me. I think they usually do it for the diversity previews (April 14-17th) but not for the normal-people previews (the 16-17th).

Some more discussion here:

I think that the answer is that they will pay if you are URM or if you have financial need (or both). But the best thing to do is to ask. Please let us know what you find out.

williams is paying for my ticket to go to the diversity weekend. and yes i'm from a low income family. but i haven't actually received a ticket in the mail. i'm hoping it will come this week.

Did you need to ask for one or did they just tell you that one was coming? How did you coordinate the flight information (time to come and go, best airport to fly out of -- if there is more than one near your home)?

williams arranged all the travel plans for me.

They said that they would pay for mine, but NOT my mother's...

Are all accepted students invited to this preview thing, or just some of them?

Wasn't there an invitation in the acceptance folder? There should have been one...it had someone in a purple cow suit on it...

What about international students? Does the College financially support their travel expenses to the Preview?

SEN08, not everyone who is interested in Williams has gotten an acceptance folder.

Consolation, you asked whether all accepted students were invited, not all interested parties...I was just answering that specifically...

SENI08, do I really need to spell this out? Despite the fact that, as you have informed everyone in about 10 threads, YOU received one, not all accepted students receive an early write letter. Many students who will eventually be accepted will not be notified until April. They are still "interested" in Williams. Since many of those students will have scheduling issues having to do with "accepted students weekends" at other schools or other events in their lives, it is reasonable for them or their families to wonder if they will be invited to such a weekend if accepted. (Especially since there is some indication that some students are invited to special events and others are not.)

So no, you did not answer my actual question, which is "Are ALL accepted students invited to a Preview?" But thanks anyway.

Consolation, Williams does have a preview weekend/days for accepted students and all accepted students are invited. I just took a look at the master calendar on the Williams website, and it looks like there are admissions preview days scheduled for April 12 through April 14 this year.

Consolation, the Previews thing comes after the RD acceptance date. I assume that when they're accepted, they'll get an acceptance letter...all I was saying is that the invite is in there, so accepted students will be invited when they get it, and that includes those who aren't early write too...since they know the date now thanks to jrpar, they can plan ahead for when they DO get the letter. I'm sorry if I seem to have posted everywhere...I wasn't trying to be mean, I was just super excited and went on an internet binge, but since no one else was on when I was, I just kept posting on different threads because I was bored. I'll delete them if you want...I didn't mean to give the wrong impression.

^^I know you were excited. I don't want to rain on your parade :).

OK...I just want to make sure I wasn't giving out the wrong impression or something. Thanks!
