Is writing 256 words for a 300 word essay okay?

I believe my point in the essay is fully there. No fancy writing or anything, just straight to the point. It's 256 words, for an essay of "about 300 words." The other essay that follow the same word count criteria is 278.

Absolutely not! They will kill you for missing four words... like seriously, I think you should spend more time evaluating the content of your piece and not the length. Less is more, and I'm certain they're not even going to count the words.

yeah, that's why I asked. The content is good at that many words.
