Is your application complete?

My DD submitted her application to NW through the common app on Nov 11th. She received an email from NW confirming receipt of the application on Nov 22nd. Nevertheless, her teachers have been having problems uploading their recommendations through the common app portal.

So, yesterday she called NW admissions to find out if her app is complete: scores, recommendations, resume, etc...

They told her that since she was not ED they won't tell her whether her app is complete or not.

I don't believe NW has a portal to check status. So, how do you know whether NW received all your documents?

Anybody else have a similar experience.

I applied ED, so I don’t know how much help I’ll be, but Northwestern emailed me when they were missing something from my counselor. In the email, it explicitly stated how to get them whatever it was they were missing.

If you sent her scores, assume they will be there in a week by the very, very latest. (Some schools have weird schedules for getting those. I’m not sure if NU is one of them.)

Recommendations can be seen from Common App. Go to CA >> My Colleges >> Northwestern >> Assign Recommenders. Then see if her evaluations have been downloaded. If they have, you’re good. If they haven’t, just wait–they will get them soon.

Resume, if sent through Common App, should have been received with her application.

Has she gotten an email confirming that they got her application?

Did she send the application after the letters of rec uploaded? To my understanding with Common App, the letters of rec can only be submitted with the Common App but not after.

@jack my letters of recommendation were uploaded after I submitted my app.

She sent the application first, then asked her teachers to upload letters of recommendation. They have been having problems uploading though. She sent her resume via email and received an auto response email indicating receipt. Whether it will be appropriately filed/uploaded is another question.

Seems strange that with all the technology available NW does not have a portal to check application status.

Without the ability to call and have someone check I’m sure there will be applicants who don’t get all their information reviewed by admissions.
