My guidance counselor is okay. She doesn't write the letters of recs-- she compiles one from copies of a form that 3 teachers fill out with anecdotes and stuff. She helped me get National Merit Finalist and was on my back about turning in Secondary School Report forms to her.

The counseling center talks to every senior history class twice a year to talk about financial aid and applying to CSUs and UCs. They also come in to prod us into applying for scholarships (which no one ever wins, but oh well).

So I'd say, for a school with approximately 700-800 kids in each class, our two guidance counselors do really well.

I absolutely adore my college counselor! She is so nice and helpful. She's like a second mom. I know I can always go to her for advice and stuff.
I lucked out!

I'm the first student from my school to apply to an Ivy league, so my counselor is in the dark totally. She pretty much signs or does whatever I ask her because they want me to get in, funny, i know.

completely useless. she doesn't even know my name after writing 2 recs (i asked her because they were required.) only time i talked to her this year besides asking for recs was during senior grade/credit check, which lasted about 5 seconds because my grades/credits met graduation requirements.

Mine are pretty good. They usually give people a hard time about taking advanced courses, but for some reason, I didn't have any trouble. They were also really happy when I heard back from colleges :).
