(Slight pun in the title but that's beside the point :P)

My school is giving a couple of grades ipads as a trial for this year. They didn't pick my grade, but as I'm mixed with a grade that was selected for my Spanish class, I get one too. I normally prefer real books to electronic ones, but ipads are really awesome.

So I was just curious- how much does your school use techonology? I know some schools give out tab computers/laptops/ipod touches instead of ipads.

Wow, that’s pretty cool. What state do you go to school in?

At my school they let us use laptops for some lessons to “aid in understanding” or some bs like that, when most people just get on YouTube or Twitter. We have a mobile computer lab kind of thing. I guess we’ve got it better than a few other public schools who still have desktop computer labs.

wow that sounds cool, OP. i consider ours hightech as it is right next to a giant IBM and we have 100s of computers in school but nothing like giving away cutting edge technology!

Omg In elementry school, the computer lab was filled with Mac laptops (public school) (one kid actually tried to steal one but it had a tracking device or whatever)

In high school we have big clunks of Dells that suck and only around 7 out of ~34 of the computers worked by the end of the year -___-…

I go to a private school in Ohio, and from what I’ve heard, it’s always had nice stuff- they get new Macs every couple years and we have pretty decent laptops. I used to go to public school up until last year, though, and I’m pretty sure the computers there were all built circa 1980.

Tech is somewhat integrated into my school on a larger scale. We have some smartboards and whatnot, but they have yet to give out individual electronics, which I’m sure would be a popular decision, lol.

my school is a very academic school but in terms of the building, equiptment and technology its very ghetto. most of the computers are still those old boxy ones and the building is 50 years old and is said that it would be in danger if theres ever an earthquake. They’d NEVER give us any cool technology, or even let us use some

Where I go, no individual electronic items are provided. Some neighboring school give macbooks to their students, but it doesn’t seem like it has really helped out their school district. Just more distraction.

My school is getting Mac laptops for every student to take home next year. Also, we have 3 Wiis in the gym, plus certain clubs/classes get iPads.

Last year at my school, everybody in debate got a free iPad. I really don’t know why.

I would say that my middle school was a lot more high tech than my high school. Macbooks for everyone, 35 iTouches and 2 Wiis for before and after school use, etc.

At my school my AP Euro class is getting iPods and iPads this year. We have also added a lot of wifi hotspots around campus. I’m definitely welcoming these changes; seems they are finally catching on that technology is the way to get through to us :P

Our school is going to be hardwired with Wifi everywhere in the school ;D

The only thing we get is technology, because of grants - my school has like 97% below the poverty line and we don’t get federal funding anymore because of our test scores. No one even has to pay for lunch, though, because we have almost ever kid qualifying for free lunch anyway.

My school district insists on trying to have as many smart boards as possible. The problem is, they are very rarely used. A few foreign language and math teachers use them; for the other teachers, they just take up space.

Yes, that’s a good way to spend funds when we can hardly afford paper and janitors.

NO WAY! We are moving towards being “high-tech” but that’ll take about 5 years to take the 3 million dollar grant my school system got to do the necessary things at my high school. I know $3 million for one HS is alot for just technology.

Yea, most of our classes have Smart Boards. Math teachers obviously use them to death. My Japanese teacher has been campaigning for one forever, and I think she’s getting it this year.

All my classes in public school had smart boards- I noticed most of my teachers rarely used them. I wasn’t much of a fan, myself. Those marker things were really inaccurate, and it took much longer to erase stuff from a smart board than a regular dry erase board :P
