our seniors go all the way to the last day, june 8th. For whatever reason, theyll graduate at notre dame which is odd especially since the school isnt even in south bend. The graduation date(june 7th) was set long in advance, so it cant change. the last day of school was originally the 3rd, but we git a bunch of snow days, so now school goes to the 8Th.
In my HS, we get out only 1 week before: May 15. Our grad ceremony is on the 20th.
HS graduation is May 19. HS for my daughters ends June 2.
In our district, seniors take finals along with everyone else. Seniors have graduation practice on the last day of school (day after finals end) and then graduate in the evening. D’s done during the first week of June.
Graduation is June 5, senior finals is that week before graduation. The rest of the high school take finals the following week, last day of school June 11.
Today is my last day, save for a lingering AP exam. Seniors at my school have to find an unpaid internship for the last 3 weeks. My school has us practice creating a resume, helps us search and learn to make contacts, interview, seminars on how to act, dress etc. We write a final paper about what we learned and then graduate in early June. Oh and it’s a pass fail grade “class” that without the paper and documented hours, we fail.
AP exams are given earlier but all other classes that seniors take have exams right up until the end of the school year.
So most colleges require the official transcript ~July1, what about HS’s that don’t end until around then? I’m sure the school admin workers don’t stick around for long after school ends, What if said transcript does not get mailed / received and there is no one in the office until August?
@TerryB15 I’m sure the school makes arrangements to have staff available to mail out the transcripts. This isn’t the first year that final transcripts needed to be sent. Colleges understand that some transcripts may run a little late.
My D is done two weeks from today, May 22. She’s has had an app on her phone counting down the minutes since February or so. The last week is supposed to include senior finals exams, but for most of her classes, she has big final projects that are probably more time consuming than studying for finals. Graduation is June 10.
My DD is mentally done as the AP tests are over…but last day of school isn’t until 6/22.
Mine have AP exams to finish. One is taking six, the other five. Once those are over next week, they are on easy street. They are already deeply afflicted with senioritis, and they will be doing a lot of nothing for six weeks after they finish APs. Fine with me, they worked very hard to get where they are. They deserve a break, and will be starting their summer jobs earlier this year, so they will have plenty of time to bank some savings.
