iSchool Questions

I just got accepted to Syracuse iSchool. I applied Syracuse because I got an email from Syracuse and they talked about their iSchool. It really attract my attention to the school and this is the main reason why I applied Syracuse. Now I am accepted, I just want to ask current or past iSchool students some questions about iSchool. I know the Syracuse website offers information about iSchool, but sometimes college only post good reviews.

  1. Does every get to go on the "Spring Break in Silicon Valley" trip?
  2. How is the experience for EuroTech or AsiaTech?
  3. Is iSchool stressful? Like is work load manageable?
  4. I heard iSchool is a fairly smaller community at Syracuse, does anyone know the exact population of iSchool?
  5. Does iSchool receive a fair amount of support from Syracuse?
  6. Is it hard to get internship, job, or go into a good grad school?
  7. Pros and Cons of iSchool.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my questions and answering them!

Congrats on getting in! I also applied to the iSchool and will hopefully get accepted. Do you mind posting your stats for me?

GPA: 94.71
SAT: 1610 (not good cuz of my English) (720 Math, 430 CR. 460 Writing)
Improve almost every year in High School.
Took Standard class in freshmen year.
Jump to CP and some honor in Sophomore year.
Mostly honor Junior year.
Mostly AP senior year.
In FIRST Robotics, NJ Science League, Orchestra, Rec Basketball, Programming Clubs.
I also have really high programming classes grade.
Avg 94 in Programming I
Avg 96 in Programming II H
Avg 95 in AP Computer Science
I think I got in mostly because of my strong programming skills, math scores, FIRST Robotics, and improvement shown every year.

Have you visit or talk to any of current iSchool student? If so, can you share your experience? Thanks

yeah, I went and toured the iSchool and they talked a lot about how to use computers to deal with a lot of data. They said many times that you will not do any coding, and if thats what you’re interested in, apply to the school of engineering. The iSchool is a small, close knit community it seems, and a lot of people seem to enjoy it / do dual programs with it.

so what kind of software they use when they deal with data?
