<p>I doubt there are too many people here who have taken both, and most of the time it isn't really the student's choice. Although most of New England's elite schools say they will accept both the SSAT and the ISEE, they also normally stipulate that they prefer the SSAT. The opposite is the same, I am told, at southern boarding schools.</p>
<p>In terms of fairness, I think that the ISEE has an advantage because one can only take it once every six months, and I'm tired of hearing from all these CCers that they didn't do well enough for their first SSAT sitting so they're simply taking another SSAT. With the ISEE, schools don't have to wonder whether the applicant has taken the test multiple times because of some perfection complex. With the ISEE, they know that each applicant is on even ground because they've all had equal opportunities in terms of the number of times the test is taken.</p>
